The work of Citizens Union’s State Affairs Committee is conducted by volunteer Citizens Union members and Board members who develop policy recommendations for myriad reform issues concerning New York State government.

Committee members conduct policy research, consult with civic leaders to discuss reform possibilities and efforts, and advocate for Citizens Union’s positions. The State Affairs Committee works on reform issues related to redistricting, campaign finance and elections, and has debated how best to reform the process for filling the vacancies of elected officials.  In reviewing these issues and developing policy solutions, the committee strives toward creating a more open, effective, and accountable State government.

To participate in the State Affairs Committee, you must be a Citizens Union member in good standing at the $30 level or higher.  For more information or to apply, please email policy@citizensunion.org.
