Deborah Rose, Executive Director of Liberty Partnership College of Staten Island, said if elected she would focus on transportation, waterfront development, education and health care. In particular, she would push for the start of a “shovel-ready” project to build a railway traversing the north shore along the waterfront. Ms. Rose is a strong supporter of Citizens Union’s reform agenda, including giving the Civilian Complaint Review Board powers to prosecute police misconduct and the need for election reform. Citizens Union endorses Ms. Rose because of her passion for the issues relevant to her district, her commitment to working collaboratively with Staten Island’s other elected officials, regardless of party affiliation, to accomplish common goals for the entire borough, and her long track record of public service.
