Tunisia Morrison is a government relations professional, former Assembly staffer, and a community organizer. She fully supported Citizens Union’s reform agenda and placed ethics and government transparency at the top of her priorities. During her interview, Citizens Union valued her understanding of how Albany operates, drawn from her time as Chief of Staff to Assembly Member Hyndman, as well as her thoughtful answers on the intersection of community engagement and legislative work. Her experience spanning both the public and private sectors gave her a well-rounded perspective that stood out among the candidates in this race. Nathaniel Hezekiah is a lifelong Southeast Queens resident who has spent 16 years working for Congressman Greg Meeks, rising to Deputy Chief of Staff. He supported nearly all of Citizens Union’s reform agenda, with a notable exception: he opposes requiring campaign contributors to disclose their employers. Citizens Union found him communicative and comfortable navigating relationships across the political spectrum. Latoya LeGrand is a Southeast Queens native who has worked across government and nonprofit sectors, including as a district staffer for State Senator James Sanders and as founder of a nonprofit serving NYCHA residents and New Yorkers in foster care and shelters. She fully supported Citizens Union’s reform agenda and identified ethics, government transparency, and police accountability as her top priorities.
