2025 General Election

Queens: Maspeth, Glendale, Middle Village, and Ridgewood

Council District 30 – General Election

Endorsed Candidate

Alicia Vaichunas

Age: 51

Occupation: Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of Council Member Robert Holden

Education: High School

Alicia Vaichunas is the Deputy Chief of Staff for Council Member Bob Holden, who has represented this district for the past eight years. Vaichunas served in his office for that entire time. There, she has mostly focused on constituent services, serving the district’s residents and deepening her involvement in the community. Though Vaichunas supports most of Citizens Union’s agenda, she opposes ranked choice voting and moving lobbying oversight to the Conflicts of Interest Board. Despite our differences, Vaichunas demonstrated willingness to engage on issues and seemed amenable to alternative views. Citizens Union appreciates her deep involvement in the community and her relentless pursuit to solve her constituents’ issues. We endorse her in this race over her opponent.

Phil Wong

Age: 59

Occupation: Budget Director, Office of Council Member Robert Holden

Education: Cornell University

Phil Wong is the Budget Director for incumbent Council Member Bob Holden. Wong staunchly opposes several CU reform agenda items in both his questionnaire and interview, namely ranked choice voting, open primaries, public matching funds, limiting bundling by those with business in front of the City, and even year elections. Citizens Union appreciates Wong’s continued service to his home district.
