Elvis Santana is a Dominican American resident of the Bronx who advocates and organizes for local issues. He previously worked as a Community School Director at the East Side House Settlement in the South Bronx, serving communities throughout the Bronx and Northern Manhattan. Before that, he was a Program Manager and Job Developer at the Children’s Aid Society. Santana’s campaign prioritizes reforms related to education budget, affordable housing, and environmental racism. He also supports Citizens Union’s reform agenda, including no-excuse absentee voting and having an independent body to ensure fair elections and prevent issues such as gerrymandering. He has demonstrated interest in further collaboration with Citizens Union to work towards good government and accountability. Citizens Union believes Santana will be an effective advocate for reform in Albany and prefers him in this race.

George Alvarez is the founder of Apple Consultants, a political consulting firm. A computer scientist by training, he has worked at IT companies for a number of years. He has been active in local political clubs and currently serves as the Vice President of the Bronx Democratic Party. This is his third campaign for public office. Alvarez’s platform prioritizes education and youth programs, quality affordable housing, and public safety. He also promises to create job training and placement programs for members of the community. Alvarez supports Citizen Union’s reform agenda, particularly online voter registration, limiting the maximum individual contributions, and rejecting donations from “big money.”
