New York, N.Y. (March 28, 2020)— Citizens Union has issued the following statement from Executive Director Betsy Gotbaum reacting to the news that the primary elections scheduled for April 28 will be postponed until June 23:
“The 2020 elections must go forward. We are pleased that common sense has prevailed and that the elections scheduled for April 28th will now be held on June 23rd. To further ensure that all New Yorkers can vote without jeopardizing public health, the election law must be amended so that all registered voters who want to vote by mail can do so using an mail-in ballot while the risk of contracting the coronavirus exists.”
