New York, N.Y. (April 12, 2022) – Citizens Union releases the following statement from Executive Director Betsy Gotbaum in response to the news that Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin has resigned:
“Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin has done the appropriate thing by resigning from office. The charges against him represent a serious violation of the trust New Yorkers put in those elected to serve. It would have been impossible for him to effectively continue as Lieutenant Governor while defending himself against these charges.”
