Dick Dadey Testifies before the City Council Committee on Public Safety re: the CCRB’s 2007 Annual Report and Provides Recommendations to Reform the CCRB

Citizens Union executive director Dick Dadey testified before the City Council Committee on Public Safety to provide recommendations for handling police misconduct.  The five core recommendations are as follows: Transfer prosecutorial power to the CCRB attorneys to enable the CCRB to try the cases it substantiates, Expand the range of penalties available to the Police Commissioner, Reinstate the Zero Tolerance penalty for False Statements, Provide the CCRB with the authority to prosecute officers guilty of lying during CCRB investigations, Create a permanent and stronger Commission to Combat Police Corruption.
