CU Recommendations to Depoliticize Discretionary Funding Decisions
Citizens Union reports on City Council Discretionary Funding processes to illuminate the lack of attention to socioeconomic status in district funding allocation. Although “recent reforms in the City Council have improved the vetting of organizations receiving funding and provided additional disclosure, yet the distribution process to members remains too politicized and not equitable and objective enough.”Funding allocation among individual districts should place greater emphasis on district needs in order to promote overall progress.
