Citizens Union Issues Report with Recommendations for Increasing Avenues for Participation in Governing and Elections in New York City

Citizens Union published a report of 2010 City Charter Revision recommendations relating to increasing participation in governing in New York City.  Citizens Union’s five major objectives when making recommendations were ensuring checks and balances, open elections, strengthening accountability, protecting integrity, and increasing transparency.  Their goal is to enhance different voices while still maintaining the power of a strong mayoral form of city government.  The report makes forty-nine specific and distinct recommendations that are summarized into seventeen broad recommendations.
