The leaders of Reinvent Albany, Citizens Budget Commission, Citizens Union, Common Cause New York, League of Women Voters of New York State, New York Public Interest Research Group, and Strong Economy for All Coalition sent a letter to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, New York Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, and New York Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins urging them to increase the annual funding provided to the Authorities Budget Office (ABO) to at least $5 million.  With its current funding, the ABO is critically understaffed, which limits its ability to oversee the nearly 600 state and local authorities that manage over $243 billion in public debt.  This increase would allow the ABO to improve their oversight, accountability, and public trust duties.
